AIAC Gearing up for the 2nd Annual Canadian Aerospace Summit

The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada preparations for the 2012 Canadian Aerospace Summit are well underway with a preliminary conference program available soon according to Kristen VanderHoek, AIAC Director of Communications.

This years summit will once again take place in Ottawa on December 5 and 6 at the Ottawa Convention Centre. The AIAC is hoping this years event will attract more than 500 participants. Last year there were over 400.
The theme of this years summit is Bold Steps for an Exceptional Future focusing on Global Vision, Enhanced Collaboration and Smart Transformation.
The AIAC describes the theme of the summit as follows:
BOLD STEPS FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL FUTURE
For Canada, 2012 is a year of transition to a dynamic new industry that will be making Bold Steps for an Exceptional Future. These steps will be based on the following metrics:
GLOBAL VISION
What are the long-term trends, and what new and emerging dynamics are impacting the industry? Where are the market opportunities? What needs to be done today – both corporately and individually as OEMS, or suppliers, or SMEs – to anticipate these changes and secure our position within the industry of the future?
ENHANCED COLLABORATION
Partnerships are a fundamental element of market growth and technological excellence. Who are the partners of the future, both domestically and internationally? What type of collaboration should companies be seeking and promoting?
SMART TRANSFORMATION
How can industry make the most of emerging country opportunities in terms of market access and access to low-cost inputs in a win-win situation for both industry and the emerging market? In addition, transformational technologies and processes such as additive manufacturing are at our doorstep. These are the technologies that will allow industries to reshore and restore balance in the manufacturing processes and maximize productivity. How should industry prepare for these technologies and integrate them into their production models?
The summit takes place a week before the Aerospace Review is scheduled to be release its report on December 14 which will surely be a hot topic.
Of note, during the summit the AIAC is planning to broadcast the launch of Astronaut Chris Hadfield who is is scheduled to launch from the Baikonur Comosdrome on a Soyuz rocket on December 5th at 1:55 p.m. EST. Hadfield is heading to the ISS on a six month mission and will become the first Canadian to command the ISS.
Registration for the summit is now open.
