Canadian Space Society Implements Space Policy Committee

The Canadian Space Society (CSS) is moving forward with implementing a Space Policy Committee which was part of a strategic plan developed in 2017.

At the moment the CSS is looking for members who wish to serve on the committee. The committee will have “quarterly discussions and annual meetings with a view to publishing an annual space policy statement for Canada.”

The next opportunity for CSS members nationally to get together and discuss space policy will be at its annual Canadian Space Summit in the Ottawa region, between November 27-29. The 18th annual summit will be held at the Brookstreet Hotel in Kanata, an area full of research companies, home to  Department of National Defense facilities and the Canadian Space Agency’s David Florida Laboratory. Registration for the annual summit is now open.

The move by the CSS is timely as the Canadian Space Commerce Association who had hosted the Canadian Space Policy Symposium’s in 2016 and 2017 recently ceased operations. The CSS can pick up some of the slack, and having another voice contributing on a larger scale will only help to serve the Canadian space community.

Those interested in serving on the committee should contact past-president Wayne Ellis at [email protected].
