Is the Canadian Space Agency About to Announce a Call for Astronauts?

The Canadian Space Agency issued a press release this morning announcing an event tomorrow morning on the future of the Canadian astronaut program. There are two possible reasons that come to mind to start with.

It’s also important to note who will be in attendance.
The press release states that the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development will make the announcement. Also in attendance will be Canadian Space Agency president Sylvain Laporte and Jeremy Hansen. Participating by videoconference will be David Saint-Jacques.
The text of the press release which says “the future of the Canadian astronaut program” could suggest the announcement of a new round of astronaut selections. After all, the last call for astronauts was in 2008.
The other possible announcement, though less likely, based once again on the text of press release, is that a date has been set for Jeremy Hansen’s flight to the International Space Station.
Or since this is all guess work, it could be something altogether different.
Stay tuned as we’ll be covering the event tomorrow which by the way will be livestreamed onFacebook starting at 9:00 a.m. EDT.
