The Canadian Space Agency has announced over $1.7 million in new funding for concept studies related to scientific research that may be performed on the Artemis Program’s Lunar Gateway station. This follows a Request for Proposals in December of 2022.

MDA announced their financial results for the second quarter of 2023. In contrast to the recent downward trend of some other space sector counterparts, MDA saw significant growth. 

After years of delay Telesat announced today it was proceeding with the production phase of its LightSpeed constellation having secured the necessary funding and selecting MDA as the prime satellite manufacturer.

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) announced on July 31 that MDA has won an award to conduct a study on the feasibility and value of the Arctic Observing Mission (AOM). MDA has hired Stephanie McDonald as their new Chief People, Culture and Transformation Officer who has experience in “providing long-term strategic planning and value creation in publicly-traded companies.”

Prior to the Canada Day long weekend MDA announced it was awarded another contract from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in the governments efforts to fight illegal, unregulated, and unreported fishing.

MDA will once again work with L3Harris on the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Tracking Layer program using its expertise to to build Ka-Band steerable antennas with control electronics.

MDA and Thoth Technology have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement that would enable deep space radar surveillance and space domain awareness from what they state would be “Canada’s first ground-based radar capable of monitoring Resident Space Objects in geosynchronous orbit.”
